I sent a client to the CEDA office to get help with his light bill. Imagine my surprise when they told him that he had to bring in a letter stating he did not get an increase in 2010. Well, I find it difficult to understand because CEDA must be the very last folks to hear the news. There was no cost of living increase in 2009 so there is no increase for social security recipients in 2010. My client did not receive this notice, in fact only about 1/3 of the individuals I service receieved this notice. Must be a cost savings in there for someone but surely not my client. He is out there on the bus, paying money he can ill aford to spend, when all someone had to do was go on line get a copy of the SSA notification.

We say we are in the business of providing social services but sometimes I wonder.

Very disappointed in some of the services here. Everytime I speak with someone they tell me something different, at no point do they take the time out to just honestly do their job, or even apply common sense. It is my belief that some of these employees take advantage of people using the states services and show no concern or care for their situations. (AS if they are better than you or you do not deserve respect). Everytime I've gone into the office I see the struggle and fustration of these people when employees have mislead them and now their lights or gas are off and they now have to wait for weeks to have the services returned. Even saw a woman in full tears histericale because the lady told her to wait until after her disconnection date comeback and they would process the payment with 5-7 days, go figure that didn't happen. At some point good customer service would be great, just to think at some point these people could be you or one of your family members.
